Krewe of Venus 50th Anniversary Royal Coronation Ball January 3, 2015

The Krewe of Venus is a social organization established in 1965 to be part of the Tampa Bay area Krewe festivities. The Krewe participates in Gasparilla and other parades and events throughout the year. In addition to a myriad of informal and
themed socials, dinners, and parties, we are distinguished from other area Krewes by our Mardi Gras style pageantry and multiple formal events. The Krewe of Venus was the first Gasparilla Krewe to throw beads in the parades.

“We are celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2015,” explains Brandt Cosgrove, President of the Krewe of Venus. “Our Royal Coronation Ball will be held on January 3rd, 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Tampa. We look forward to growing our Krewe this year and are welcoming new members!”

The Krewe of Venus heritage extends over five decades in Tampa. The Krewe’s founder, Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Cochran, and members of the Tampa Woman's Club started the Krewe. The first year's activities were established with the assistance of the New Orleans Krewe of Venus. Their support and representation created a Mardi Gras style Coronation Ball at the old Curtis Hixon Convention Center in the Fall of 1965. Since that year, Kings and Queens have been crowned and lead the Gala events...a glittering part of the Tampa Bay Social Scene.

The Krewe of Venus is accepting new members and is offering a special introductory membership for couples and singles in honor of their 50th year celebration. For more details please call the Krewe office at 813.289.9310.
